PG 1/60 Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility Officially Revealed at Tamashii Nations
In a stunning reveal at the Tamashii Nations 2026 event in Akihabara, Bandai announced the PG 1/60 Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility โ the most ambitious Perfect Grade kit ever produced.
What We Know So Far
The Perfectibility edition builds on the existing PG Unicorn framework but introduces an entirely revamped LED system with individual psychoframe illumination in both Unicorn and Destroy modes. The transformation mechanism has been completely reworked for smoother transitions.
Specs & Pricing
Over 800 individual parts. Full LED system with a dedicated controller for sequential lighting effects. Three-position transformation lock system. Pre-orders open May 1, 2026, with a scheduled release in September 2026.
What Perfectibility Actually Is
'Perfectibility' refers to the special variant of the Unicorn Gundam designed by Hajime Katoki for the RX-0 line โ armed with the Beam Magnum, the Hyper Bazooka, the Beam Gatling Gun, and a Beam Saber Rack mounted on the backpack. Combined with the standard Beam Magnum and shield, you essentially get every weapon RX-0 ever fielded in one display.
For a Perfect Grade, this is significant. The PG Unicorn (released 2014) is already one of the most ambitious Gunpla ever made. The Perfectibility version takes that platform and loads it down with every major weapon system, plus an updated psychoframe that's brighter and more even than the original release.
The LED Upgrade
If you owned the original PG Unicorn, you'll remember the LED unit was a separate purchase that required some tricky internal routing. The Perfectibility release includes the LED system in the box, with a cleaner pre-routed channel and improved diffusers in the psychoframe panels. The end result is a brighter, more uniform glow with fewer hot spots.
The kit is engineered around two display modes: Unicorn Mode (LEDs off, armor closed) and Destroy Mode (LEDs on, armor panels cantilevered open). Switching between modes requires about 10 minutes of careful armor manipulation โ you don't want to do it casually, but it's reversible without damage.
Weapon Loadout Breakdown
The Beam Magnum: standard issue, with magazine-swap engineering. Each magazine clicks into the bottom of the rifle and ejects via a button. There are three included magazines, plus a separate cartridge spread for the over-the-shoulder reload pose.
The Hyper Bazooka: the over-the-shoulder rest mounts on a hardpoint built into the backpack. The bazooka itself disassembles for transport (carry mode) and reassembles for combat. Includes detachable magazine.
The Beam Gatling Gun: a hand-mounted multi-barrel weapon. Spins via a small thumb-lever on the housing. Connects to a power cable that loops back to the backpack โ magnetic connectors at both ends mean no fragile peg failures.
The Beam Saber Rack: mounted on the backpack, holds four extended saber hilts (versus the standard kit's two). The hilts can be removed and used in either hand.
Build Time & Difficulty
Perfectibility is a 35-50 hour build for an experienced builder. The base PG Unicorn is around 30 hours; the additional weapons add roughly 8-12 hours of careful assembly. The LED routing is the trickiest part โ Bandai's manual is detailed but you'll want a small flashlight to see into some of the deeper channels.
This is not a beginner's kit. Bandai's own recommendation is at least three previous PG builds before tackling this one. The community generally agrees: build the PG RX-78-2 first, then either PG Wing Zero or PG Strike Freedom, and only then graduate to PG Unicorn / Perfectibility.
Display Real Estate
Fully assembled in Destroy Mode with all weapons deployed, the PG Perfectibility takes up a footprint of approximately 60cm ร 60cm ร 80cm (height). Plan your shelf accordingly. A standard glass display case from IKEA's Detolf line is usually adequate, but you'll need to remove the upper shelves to fit the figure standing.
For flight-pose display, you need a heavy-duty action base. The included stand is functional but the kit's weight (with full weapons) approaches the limits. The Bandai Action Base 'Black Stand' is the recommended companion piece.
Pre-Order vs Wait
P-Bandai exclusives like this one tend to follow a predictable pattern: heavy demand at announcement, sold-out within hours of pre-order opening, then a long quiet stretch before the second-hand market settles at roughly 1.4ร retail. If you want it at retail, pre-order on day one. If you can wait six months and pay 30% more, the secondary market will have it.
