HGUC 1/144 Kshatriya — The Most Massive HGUC Ever Made

The HGUC Kshatriya is simply massive. Four enormous binders, 24 individual funnels, and a bulk that dwarfs even the Sazabi Ver.Ka. This is the ultimate centerpiece HGUC and a crown jewel of any Unicorn collection.

HGUC Kshatriya: The Massive Neo Zeon

The Kshatriya is the Marida Cruz's signature mobile suit from Gundam Unicorn — a massive Neo Zeon mobile suit with four large funnel binders mounted on the back. The HGUC Kshatriya (2011) is the standard 1/144 representation of this distinctive design.

For UC Unicorn fans, the Kshatriya is one of the show's iconic antagonist mecha and a must-have for a complete UC Unicorn HGUC display.

The Sheer Size

The Kshatriya is the largest HGUC kit in standard production at the time of release. Standing approximately 18-20cm with funnel binders deployed, it dwarfs most other 1/144 kits on a shelf. Plan space accordingly.

The funnel binders fully deployed extend another 10-12cm beyond the body. The total footprint exceeds 30cm × 30cm in display configuration.

The Funnel Binders

Four large funnel binders mount on the back. Each binder contains multiple internal funnels that deploy outward. The kit includes the binders as separate sub-assemblies that connect via ratcheted hinges — they hold deployed positions reliably.

Effect parts for funnel deployment aren't included. Builders typically use clear support rods or simply display in stationary 'deployed binder' configuration.

The Color Scheme

Dark green body with red trim and gold accents. The dark green is unusual for UC era — most UC mecha are red, white, or gray. The Kshatriya's coloring marks it as a Neo Zeon machine while distinguishing it from the Sazabi.

The dark green plastic has a slight metallic tint. Panel-line work in dark gray adds depth without overwhelming the color.

The Beam Saber & Mega Particle Cannons

Beam saber hilts (two), mega particle cannons (two, mounted on the wrists), and the funnel binder array. Standard Kshatriya kit list.

The wrist-mounted cannons articulate independently — they swivel for forward-firing pose vs side-firing pose.

Articulation

2011-era HGUC articulation, but the kit's size makes posing slightly heavy-handed. The figure can stand stably but doesn't accommodate extreme dynamic poses without strain.

For dedicated Kshatriya fans, the MG version (released later) offers superior articulation but at significantly higher cost.

Display Configuration

The Kshatriya looks best with funnel binders fully deployed in defensive 'fan' configuration. Static display with binders folded reads as compressed and underwhelming.

✔ Pros

  • +Largest HGUC ever
  • +24 individual funnels
  • +Incredible shelf presence
  • +All binders poseable

✖ Cons

  • Very expensive for HG
  • Binders limit posing
  • Heavy — strong stand needed
  • Long build for HG grade
