RG 1/144 Sazabi — The Red Comet's Ultimate Machine in Real Grade

The RG Sazabi is one of the most remarkable Real Grades ever made. At nearly 17cm tall, it towers over other 1/144 kits. The funnels are all individually poseable, the faceplate detail is extraordinary, and the overall engineering pushes what an RG can be.

RG Sazabi: The Red Comet's Final Form

The RG Sazabi (2017) brings Char's final flagship to Real Grade scale. The Sazabi is the Char's Counterattack-era apex mobile suit — a massive Neo Zeon machine with funnel weapons and deep crimson coloring.

For UC fans, the RG Sazabi is the natural step up from the HGUC and provides a 1/144 alternative to the larger MG Sazabi Ver.Ka.

The Funnel System

The Sazabi mounts six funnels on the rear backpack. The RG kit includes the funnels as detachable pieces. Like the HGUC, the funnels don't have individual articulation — they're for static deployed display only.

For mid-flight deployment poses, builders use clear support rods or simply display in stationary 'deployed' configuration.

The Color Achievement

Deep crimson red, gold trim, gunmetal frame. The red is darker than the Sinanju's — closer to wine red. The gold is genuine gold-plated for major panels.

The visual effect is intentionally darker and more imposing than the Sinanju. The Sazabi reads as 'commander's flagship' rather than 'ace pilot's suit.'

The Beam Shot Rifle & Beam Tomahawk

Sazabi's iconic weapons are included: the long beam shot rifle and the beam tomahawk axe. Both have proper articulation; the tomahawk's head swivels relative to the handle.

The Inner Frame

2017-era Advanced MS Joint. Refined for the Sazabi's larger frame. Joints are stiffer than older RGs, holding poses reliably.

The MG Comparison

RG Sazabi: ¥4,400. MG Sazabi Ver.Ka: ¥21,000+ (varies, often P-Bandai). The RG is ~5x cheaper.

The MG remains the gold standard for the Sazabi design. The RG is the right entry point for most builders. Dedicated UC fans eventually own both.

Display Considerations

The Sazabi's stocky build and deep crimson color reads as 'imposing presence' on a shelf. Display under directional lighting; the metallic red catches light dramatically. Plan for ~25cm × 25cm display footprint with funnels mounted.
