RG 1/144 Destiny Gundam — Shinn's Machine in Real Grade

The RG Destiny Gundam brings Shinn Asuka's machine to Real Grade with exceptional results. The wing spread in full form is dramatic, the beam boomerangs and anti-ship swords are all accurate, and the new inner frame quality is top-tier.

RG Destiny: Shinn's Real Grade Era

The RG Destiny Gundam (2018) brings Shinn Asuka's mobile suit to Real Grade scale with refined proportions and the deployable 'Wings of Light' effect parts. The RG version is widely regarded as the best Destiny representation at any scale below MG.

For SEED Destiny fans, the RG is the recommended entry point. The HGCE is the budget option; the MG is the premium option.

The Wing Engineering

Two 'Wings of Light' effect parts mount on the back when deployed. The wings are translucent with internal detail, designed to read as 'energy projection' rather than physical wings. They mount on the standard Destiny backpack hardpoints.

The kit includes the wing parts plus a stand adapter for action-pose display.

The Excalibur Anti-Ship Sword

The Destiny's iconic massive sword is included plus the high-energy beam rifle, beam saber alternates, and the anti-beam shield. Standard Destiny loadout.

The Excalibur is heavy at 1/144 scale. The figure displays best with the sword in 'stowed' configuration on the back rather than extended — the cantilevered weight pulls the figure off-balance.

Color Scheme

Black, white, blue, red. High contrast palette. The black is deeper than typical kits — almost matte black. The contrast with the white sections is dramatic.

Articulation

2018-era RG. Excellent. Hip joints accommodate the deep combat stances the Destiny is famous for in the show. Shoulder articulation supports overhead Excalibur swings. Knee bends accommodate kneeling poses.

The HGCE vs RG Decision

HGCE Destiny: ¥1,800. Simpler build, smaller scale, no wings effect.

RG Destiny: ¥3,300. Refined proportions, articulated frame, deployable wings.

For most builders, the RG is meaningfully better at moderate price difference. Recommended.
