PG 1/60 Char's Zaku II — Zeon's Finest at Perfect Grade Scale
The PG Char's Zaku II brings Zeon's most iconic pilot to life at the largest scale Bandai builds. The crimson armor has a depth and richness that only 1/60 scale plastic can deliver, and the die-cast inner frame gives every joint a satisfying solidity.
PG Char's Zaku II: Zeon's Finest at Perfect Grade
The PG Char's Zaku II (2002) is one of Bandai's earliest non-Gundam PGs and the first Zeon Mobile Suit at Perfect Grade scale. Char Aznable's signature suit at 1/60 captures the Zaku design with mechanical detail that justifies the format.
For Zaku collectors, this is the apex Char's Zaku II. There's no MGEX Char's Zaku planned; the PG remains the gold standard.
The Inner Frame
Full PG inner frame engineering. The Zaku's mechanical detail (visible piston cables, exposed joint connectors, internal armor framework) is captured at 1/60 scale with detail rivaling industrial scale models.
Every joint articulates. Every armor panel removes. The mono-eye head turns smoothly via a polycap system. The waist has full rotation range.
The Heat Hawk & Machine Gun
Standard Zaku weapons at PG scale: Heat Hawk (with weighted head for stable held-pose display), Zaku Machine Gun (with removable magazine), two grenades, Zaku Bazooka (massive at PG scale).
The Bazooka mounts on the back via a hardpoint when not held. Its size at 1/60 is genuinely intimidating.
The Color Scheme
Char's signature red, with darker red accents and gunmetal joints. The red plastic is a specific PG-quality formulation — slightly metallic, deeper than typical Bandai red.
Build Considerations
40-50 hours for a careful first build. The PG Char's Zaku II is one of the more accessible PGs — fewer subassemblies than the PG RX-78, but still a multi-week commitment.
The Decal Set
Comprehensive water-slide decals are included. Apply per the manual; the unit insignia and Newtype warning markings significantly elevate the kit's visual richness.
Display Pairing
Shelved next to a PG RX-78-2, the two PG figures create the iconic 'Gundam vs Char's Zaku' One Year War rivalry display. Plan display space — combined footprint approximately 80cm × 60cm.
