MG 1/100 Sinanju — The Most Imposing Master Grade in the UC Timeline
The MG Sinanju is arguably the most visually stunning Master Grade ever produced. The deep crimson armor, intricate gold inlay patterns, and sheer imposing size combine to create a kit that looks like it cost twice the price.
Gold Inlay Work
The gold decorative trim that covers the Sinanju's armor is all individually molded — not foil stickers. Every flourish and ornamental detail is crisp, clean, and precisely parted. It's a level of decoration that puts most MG kits to shame.
MG Sinanju: The Definitive Neo Zeon
The MG Sinanju (2009) is one of Bandai's most celebrated MG releases. It captures the imposing Neo Zeon aesthetic of Full Frontal's flagship mobile suit at 1/100 scale, with engineering that holds up sixteen years later. For Neo Zeon fans, this kit is essentially mandatory.
For builders new to the Sinanju design, this is the kit that introduced most of the world to the suit. The HG Sinanju and RG Sinanju followed; this MG remains the benchmark.
The Color Scheme
Deep crimson red with gold trim and gunmetal joints. The factory red is good — slightly metallic finish, deeper than primary red. The gold is genuine gold-plated plastic for the major panels (chest crest, wing trim, ankle accents) and painted gold for smaller details.
For builders who want maximum visual impact: a coat of Tamiya TS-86 Pure Red over the molded plastic deepens the red. A Mr Color Super Gold over-coat on the gold panels adds shine. The kit is excellent OOB and exceptional with these paint passes.
The Beam Tomahawk & Custom Bazooka
Iconic Sinanju weapons all included: beam tomahawk (massive curved axe blade), Sinanju Custom Bazooka (with magazine-feed gimmick), beam rifle (smaller, secondary weapon), and two beam saber hilts for hand combat.
The tomahawk has a surprising amount of articulation — the head swivels relative to the handle, allowing for natural held-pose grips.
The Inner Frame
The Sinanju's frame is one of the better mid-2000s MG inner frames. The hip joints are particularly strong — they hold poses without slumping even with the figure fully kitted out with weapons.
The waist has a unique two-axis swivel + roll mechanism that allows the upper body to swivel relative to the hips while remaining stable. Useful for the dynamic combat poses the Sinanju is famous for.
The Vernier Detail
The Sinanju has dozens of small vernier thrusters across its body — shoulders, hips, waist, calves, feet. The MG kit captures these as small detail panels, all properly recessed and ready for paint enhancement.
Builders typically drybrush the vernier interiors with chrome or silver to bring out the depth. The result transforms the kit's visual richness.
The Premium Decal Variant
Bandai released a 'MG Sinanju Ver.Ka with Premium Decal' variant that includes a comprehensive waterslide decal sheet. The base kit doesn't include decals; if you want the full faction-marked appearance with Neo Zeon insignia and unit markings, the Premium version is worth the upcharge.
For builders willing to source decals separately: third-party Sinanju decal sheets are available from manufacturers like Mecha Skunk Works.
Display Considerations
The Sinanju is large for a 1/100 kit — bigger than most MG Gundams of the same era. Plan shelf space accordingly. A 30cm × 30cm display area is the minimum for static stance.
For action display, the figure benefits from a sturdy stand. The stock action base is functional but not premium. Get a Bandai Action Base 5 for serious flight-pose display.
