MG 1/100 Epyon EW — The Most Dramatic Wing Suit in Master Grade

The MG Epyon EW is the most dramatic kit in the Wing lineup. The dragon-like wings span out magnificently, the enormous heat rod uncoils from the arm, and the dark crimson-red color scheme radiates pure menace. A perfect display partner for the Wing Zero EW.

MG Epyon EW: The Most Dramatic Wing Suit

The MG Gundam Epyon EW (2010) is the Master Grade Epyon in its Endless Waltz redesign — Treize Khushrenada's mobile suit (later Zechs Merquise's). The Epyon is unique among Wing Gundams in that it uses no ranged weapons; it's a pure melee specialist with the Beam Sword and Heat Rod.

For Wing fans, the Epyon EW is essential as the iconic 'rival pilot's suit' alongside Wing Zero. The MG version is the apex 1/100 representation.

The Beam Sword & Heat Rod

The Epyon's signature weapons are the long Beam Sword (extended single blade) and the Heat Rod (the same whip-like weapon as the Gouf). The MG kit includes both.

The Beam Sword is the Epyon's primary weapon — a single long beam with no shorter alternates. Its size makes the Epyon visually distinctive on display.

The Bird Mode Transformation

The Epyon transforms into a bird-like flight mode (similar to the Wing Gundam's transformation). The MG kit captures this gimmick through a series of armor folds and joint pivots.

Transformation time: ~5-7 minutes. Reversible without damage.

The Color Scheme

Crimson red with gold trim and dark gray inner frame. The Epyon is one of the few red Gundams in the Wing line — its color scheme reads as 'antagonist commander' rather than 'hero pilot.'

The gold trim is painted gold-on-yellow plastic in this kit (not plated). A Mr Color Super Gold over-coat improves the appearance.

The Inner Frame

2010-era MG frame. Strong articulation accommodating the kit's heavy weapons. The Beam Sword's weight requires solid shoulder articulation; the kit handles this well.

The Build

9-11 hours for a careful first build. The transformation requires methodical assembly; rushing leads to mis-locked panels in bird mode.

Why Build the Epyon

It's the dramatic counterpoint to Wing Zero. Where Wing Zero is white-and-blue with feathered wings, the Epyon is red-and-gold with stark angular lines. The two figures display together as the iconic Wing rivalry.
