HG 1/144 Wing Gundam EW — Endless Waltz Icon in HG

The HG Wing Gundam EW brings Katoki's iconic redesign to an affordable HG format with a basic bird mode transformation, clean white and dark blue color scheme, and the iconic twin buster rifle.

HG Wing Gundam EW: The Endless Waltz Original

The HG 1/144 Wing Gundam EW (2014) is the modernized Wing Gundam in its Endless Waltz movie design. This is Heero Yuy's original mobile suit (before he piloted Wing Zero). The Wing Gundam is the show's first Gundam, and the EW redesign refined its proportions for the movies.

For Wing fans, the HG Wing EW is the standard 1/144 entry. The MG and PG versions are bigger investments; the HG is the casual entry point.

The Buster Rifle

The Wing's signature weapon is the Buster Rifle — a long, single-barrel beam weapon. The HG kit includes the rifle in proper proportions plus beam saber alternates.

The rifle has a folding stock and articulated targeting sight. The beam saber hilts mount on the side armor.

The Bird Mode

The Wing transforms into a bird-like flight mode (different from the angel-wing Wing Zero). The HG kit captures this transformation through a series of armor folds. The bird mode is visually distinctive — the wings fold down, the head retracts, the legs angle backward.

Transformation time: ~5 minutes. Fully reversible without damage.

The Color Scheme

White, blue, red, with gold trim. Standard Wing palette. The EW redesign uses slightly cooler whites than the older HG SD versions.

Articulation

HG articulation accommodates the Wing's standard combat poses. The wing assembly limits some extreme poses (the wing weight pulls the figure if extended too far), but standard rifle-aim poses are unaffected.

The Wing Series Display

For Wing fans, the HG Wing EW pairs with the HG Wing Zero EW (Heero's later mobile suit), HG Tallgeese (Treize/Zechs), HG Sandrock (Quatre), HG Heavyarms (Trowa), HG Deathscythe (Duo), and HG Altron/Nataku (Wufei). A complete five-pilot HG Wing display is a major collection commitment.
