Figure-Rise Standard Amplified Char's Zaku II — The Red Comet Himself

The Figure-Rise Standard Amplified line proves that Bandai's kit-building engineering extends far beyond mobile suits. Building Char Aznable himself — in his iconic red normal suit and helmet — is a genuinely different experience from any Gunpla build.

Character Engineering

The Amplified tooling delivers an expressively poseable Char with interchangeable hands, face parts, and a dramatic standing pose capability. The red normal suit is all molded color with minimal stickers, and the face sculpt is surprisingly faithful to Okawara's original character design.

Figure-Rise Standard Char: The Pilot Behind the Mask

Figure-Rise Standard Amplified Char Aznable (2020) is Bandai's character-figure interpretation of Char in his iconic mask-and-uniform appearance. The kit captures the show's most recognizable Char design (the One Year War / Z Gundam era), in his Zeon dress uniform with the helm.

For UC fans, this figure works as a display companion to a Char's Zaku II or Sazabi mecha kit — the ace pilot displayed beside his machine.

The Amplified Format

'Amplified' is Bandai's premium Figure-Rise tier, with extra accessories, more articulation points, and higher detail than standard Figure-Rise. The Char Amplified includes alternate face plates (with helm and without), multiple hand units, and the iconic Char personal sidearm.

Build time is approximately 4-6 hours for a careful first build. Less mechanical complexity than a Gunpla but more attention to character detail (face sculpts, fabric folds, hand poses).

The Iconic Char Visual

The figure captures Char's signature appearance: red Zeon uniform, gold trim, the iconic helm with sun-visor lenses, the white gloves, the ceremonial belt. All molded in proper colors with high accuracy to the show.

The face sculpt under the helm is excellent — Char's stern expression is captured in the mold itself, no painting required.

Articulation

Standard Figure-Rise articulation. Ball-jointed shoulders, double-hinge elbows, hip ball joints, ankle articulation. Sufficient for standing poses, salute poses, and basic action stances.

The Amplified format adds extra articulation at the wrist and waist, allowing more dynamic display options.

Display Companion to Mecha Kits

Char figures display naturally beside Char's mecha kits. A Figure-Rise Char beside an MG Char's Zaku II Ver.2.0 creates a 'pilot and machine' display that captures the show's character/mecha relationship.

For maximum effect, scale considerations matter — the Figure-Rise Char is at 1/12 scale, which is appropriate beside MG (1/100) mobile suits in display terms.
