MG 1/100 Sazabi Ver. Ka — The Greatest Zeon MG Ever Made

The MG Sazabi Ver. Ka is a landmark Gunpla release. At nearly 26cm tall with six poseable funnels, all-molded gold ornamentation, and over 500 parts, it's the pinnacle of Zeon engineering in Master Grade form. This is a kit that will dominate any shelf it occupies for life.

MG Sazabi Ver.Ka: The Greatest Zeon MG

The MG Sazabi Ver.Ka (2014) is widely regarded as one of the best Master Grade kits ever produced at any scale. The Ver.Ka treatment refines the Sazabi's proportions, deepens the color scheme, and adds engineering that supports the kit's massive funnel system.

For UC fans, this is the apex Sazabi. There's no MGEX Sazabi (yet); the Ver.Ka remains the gold standard.

The Sheer Scale

The Ver.Ka Sazabi is one of the largest MG kits in production — easily 25-30cm tall. Plan shelf space accordingly. The figure dwarfs typical 1/100 mobile suits.

The funnels mounted on the back add another 15cm of width. Total display footprint: ~40cm × 30cm × 30cm.

The Funnel Engineering

Six funnels mount on the rear backpack with multi-axis articulation. Each funnel has its own deployment arm allowing independent positioning. Combined, the funnels can be arranged in defensive (close to body), offensive (extended outward), or 'fan deployed' (spread in wide pattern) configurations.

The Color Achievement

Deep crimson red — closer to wine red than primary red — with gold trim and gunmetal frame. The red plastic has a noticeable metallic finish that catches light dramatically.

The gold trim is genuine gold-plated plastic for major panels (chest crest, wing trim, ankle accents) and painted gold for smaller details. A Mr Color Super Gold over-coat on the painted sections matches the plated finish.

The Beam Tomahawk & Beam Shot Rifle

Standard Sazabi loadout. The beam tomahawk has multi-axis articulation; the beam shot rifle has the magazine-feed gimmick. Two beam saber hilts are included for hand combat.

The Inner Frame

2014-era MG frame with Katoki refinements. Heavy-duty joints support the Sazabi's mass without strain. The hip joint particularly is engineered for the kit's weight — Bandai used a metal pin reinforcement at the joint shaft.

Build Difficulty

15-20 hours for a careful first build. The funnel system alone consumes 5-8 hours. The body and weapons build straightforwardly.

This is a multi-evening project. Plan accordingly.

The Premium Decal Variant

Bandai released a 'Premium Decal' variant of the Ver.Ka with comprehensive Neo Zeon insignia and unit markings. For maximum visual richness, the Premium variant is worth the upcharge over the standard Ver.Ka.

Display & Photography

This kit was designed to be photographed. Display under directional lighting; the metallic red and gold trim catch light dramatically. The funnel array creates dramatic silhouettes when deployed.

For dedicated UC collectors, this kit is the centerpiece. Build a shelf around it.
